Vessel Concepts

Keel Marine is involved in ship design across the spectrum of vessel types, utilising our Naval Architects, Marine Engineers and other staff. Our 50 years experience in Naval Architecture and Ship Design ensure our designs provide efficient solutions to our clients.Shown here are a selection of the current vessel designs we are developing.

20M PILOT BOAT

The 20m Pilot Boat has been designed for general pilot transfer duties although it could also be used in other roles such as SAR and patrol duties. The vessel incorporates a number of shock mitigation technologies designed to reduce crew fatigue and injury.

The vessel is to meet all the requirements of the MCA Small Commercial Vessels and Pilot Boat Code for category 2 waters and Lloyd’s Special Service Craft Rules.

WSV1

24M WINDFARM

The 24m WSV provides maximum versatility with a large deck area of 60m2 that can comfortably accommodate 2 off 20’ ISO containers or 1 container and a turbine access system.

As well as being robust, fast and seaworthy, the layout of the vessels has been designed with the comfort and safety of passengers in mind as these boats along with the technicians they carry, are expected to work in the most challenging of environments.

10M WORKBOAT

This small and manoeuvrable vessel can carry out a multitude of tasks with its simple design and powerful engine. The all steel workboat boasts a mighty 115 bhp engine enabling either speeds in excess of 10 knots or with a change of propeller selection then a powerful bollard pull can be obtained. This allows the workboat to engage in tug operations and barge/pontoon relocation amongst many others.

LNG Bunker

LNG BUNKERING VESSEL

The 75m 1250cbm LNG Bunker tanker is designed to meet the requirements of the growing number of LNG fuelled ship operators. Dimensionally comparable with a typical conventional bunker tanker, this IMO Type ‘C’ Gas Carrier enables LNG to be economically transported to shipping areas currently devoid of adequate shore based infrastructure. By running on dual fuel the vessel is capable of meeting the stringent emissions limits in Emission Control Areas (ECAs). The vessel's fuel is drawn from a modular 20ft TEU plug and play LNG container located adjacent to the funnel, providing not only operational flexibility but compliance with the draft IGF Code.

Ro Pax

100M DUAL FUEL RO-PAX FERRY

This conceptual 100m metre Ro-Pax ferry which utilises dual fuel propulsion offers operators of ships within an Emission Control Area (ECA) the ability to comply with the strict environmental criteria required by IMO Tier III, and operators both inside and out of ECAs scope to reduce costly fuel bills due to the predominantly cheaper cost of LNG. Dual fuelling also allows operators the flexibility to revert to conventional fuelling in areas currently devoid of adequate LNG infrastructure. The vessel has approximately 530 lane metres of vehicle capacity on the main and mezzanine decks and amenities suitable for 600 passengers, including a restaurant, a café, a shop, a TV lounge and plentiful indoor and outdoor seating.
